Place of work: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
You will run the Big Data platform behind business-critical financial data: 200+ servers, fully on-premises, built on Cloudera and automated end to end in Ansible. This is infrastructure you own rather than rent, built alongside data engineers and architects in Vietnam and the Czech Republic — and we are hiring at Junior, Middle and Senior level.
The team shares a weekend on-call rotation (Saturday and Sunday, 8 hours per day on Central Europe hours, roughly once a month), with no night shifts and a Monday to Friday working week.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain a 200+ node on-premises Cloudera Data Platform.
- Automate provisioning, configuration and operations using Ansible, with production changes codified rather than done by hand.
- Manage and optimise Hadoop-based analytical environments including HDFS, Hive, Impala and Spark.
- Run monitoring, logging and alerting through Prometheus, Grafana and PagerDuty.
- Troubleshoot incidents, investigate root causes and drive long-term improvements.
- Deploy platform upgrades, patches and new services across the estate.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting platform and application deployments.
- Manage platform security and access controls in a Kerberos-secured environment.
- Collaborate with data engineers, architects and Czech-based colleagues to deliver reliable data services.
Your Experience and Skills
- 3+ years of hands-on Linux administration, including OS upgrades and patching on production systems.
- Hands-on Ansible for automation and Infrastructure as Code. Strong Terraform experience is accepted if you are ready to switch, since the entire platform is codified in Ansible.
- Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash or Shell.
- Experience running and supporting production environments, with solid log reading and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of CI/CD principles and deployment automation.
- For Middle and Senior level: hands-on experience with Cloudera Data Platform, or with Apache Ambari and the Hadoop ecosystem.
- For Senior level: ability to work independently end to end, from solution design and documentation through to explaining technical decisions and estimates directly to customers.
- English sufficient for daily collaboration with Czech-based teams.
- Nice to have: Kafka, Terraform, Kerberos, Active Directory or SSO, cloud platform exposure, DevOps or Cloud certifications. Kubernetes is not required for this role.
