Senior Full-Stack Engineer, Virtualization and Cloud Automation

Role description

You will build and evolve EmbedIT’s internal cloud. It is a set of self-service products that let engineers provision, monitor and secure infrastructure on VMware, OpenStack and Azure without manual tickets. You will own features end to end, from Python APIs and web interfaces to GitLab CI/CD and Kubernetes delivery, working with DevOps, security and database teams in the Czech Republic and APAC. You will also shape the architecture and roadmap of the platform, not just its backlog.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain internal self-service products end to end: web interfaces, REST APIs, backend services and database logic.
  • Develop automation for the full VM and operating-system lifecycle, from provisioning to decommissioning, on VMware and OpenStack.
  • Automate infrastructure tasks with Python, Ansible, PowerShell, Bash and SQL, including image and middleware deployment, configuration management and security components.
  • Integrate new virtualization platforms beyond VMware and Azure into the existing automation framework by building adapters and extending current components.
  • Build integrations with firewall, monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana), directory, database and ITSM platforms.
  • Own GitLab CI/CD pipelines, Docker images, Kubernetes Helm charts and Argo CD delivery, including automated testing and release procedures.
  • Implement security and governance requirements: secure coding, vulnerability remediation, on-demand Qualys scans and firewall standards.
  • Support DevOps engineers and system administrators in production, maintain runbooks, join the on-call rotation and lead root-cause analysis.
  • Drive code quality through solution design, peer reviews and technical standards, and mentor other engineers.

Your Experience and Skills

  • 5+ years in software development, with significant full-stack, backend, integration or infrastructure-automation experience.
  • Strong Python and API design skills, with a track record of building maintainable services, integrations and automation components.
  • Practical web development experience with PHP, JavaScript, HTML and CSS, integrated with backend APIs.
  • Strong SQL skills: relational data modelling, migrations, reporting and integrations with external systems through REST APIs and authentication.
  • Hands-on experience with Git, code review, GitLab CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes and Helm.
  • Good understanding of Linux, virtualization and cloud platforms, networking fundamentals and SSH.
  • Fluent professional English for daily work with teams in the Czech Republic and APAC, and the ability to lead technical topics and own features from design through production support.
  • Nice to have: hands-on VMware, OpenStack or Azure; Oracle Database, PL/SQL or ORDS; Argo CD or GitOps.
  • Nice to have: Prometheus, Grafana, Qualys or Check Point; a fintech or high-availability background; VMware, Red Hat, Kubernetes or ITIL certification.
